Mr. Nobody

Possible lives reveal the burden of choosing without proving every alternative is equally real.

The film gives shape to the feeling that a choice closes other lives. Its branching possibilities express regret and imagination, but they are not evidence that every unchosen path exists as a parallel universe.

Decision-making requires acting without access to the full future. The wish to know every consequence before choosing can become a refusal to inhabit any actual life.

Freedom is not simply the number of options available. It also depends on circumstances, relationships, and the capacity to revise a choice when new information arrives.

The film's multiplicity can expand empathy for the versions of ourselves we never became. It also asks whether regret helps us learn or merely keeps us comparing reality with an ideal that never had to survive contact with the world.

Which unchosen possibility am I using to judge my actual life, and what would it mean to live this one more fully?
