Past Lives

Migration and time create lives that remain connected without making one path the true one.

The film explores how migration changes language, identity, and the relationships that can be sustained across distance. A person may carry more than one sense of home without any of them being false.

The idea of alternate lives gives shape to regret and curiosity, but it does not prove that a different path would have been better. The imagined life remains free from many of the ordinary costs that actual relationships require.

Commitment to a present relationship does not require denying the importance of past connections. Ethical intimacy can acknowledge what mattered without treating memory as a betrayal of the people who share one's life now.

The film asks how two people can recognize one another across time without demanding that they become who they were before separation. Connection may endure even when its form changes.

When I imagine the life I did not choose, am I honoring a real connection or asking it to prove my present life is wrong?
