Scarcity and hierarchy are organized politically, not simply imposed by nature.

The film's closed environment makes class hierarchy visible as a design choice rather than a natural order. Scarcity may be real, but institutions decide how resources are distributed and whose comfort is protected.

The rebellion raises the question of whether changing who controls a system is enough if the system's underlying logic remains intact. Reform can relieve suffering, yet it may also stabilize an unjust structure.

The allegory simplifies ecology and political economy to make hierarchy legible. It should not be mistaken for a literal account of climate intervention or a complete theory of revolution.

The ethical stakes concern what happens after resistance succeeds. Freedom requires more than access to the existing order; it may require changing the conditions that make scarcity a tool of domination.

When I fight for a place within an unjust system, am I also asking whether the system itself can be changed?
