Sea Squirt
Metamorphosis transforms a mobile larva into a fixed adult with a simpler nervous system.
The Biological Miracle: Many sea squirts begin as free-swimming larvae with a tail and a simple nervous system. After settling, they undergo metamorphosis and resorb much of the larval structures as the adult becomes anchored to a surface.
The Philosophical Mirror: Development does not always mean accumulating more parts or abilities. An organism can become suited to a new way of life by reorganizing what it no longer needs.
The Human Takeaway: A change in role can make some capacities less central without erasing a person's history. What might I be ready to release because my present life asks something different of me?
